Customers wanting to use Log Analytics can currently enable that via Azure Policies, but there is a significant delay between when the VM boots and when the Policy is actually applied. If the Agent was installed in the HPC Image, tools like CycleCloud and AKS could associate the VMs with the collection rule upon boot and close that gap. The agent is fairly minimal so it shouldn't mean there's a lot of added bloat to the image itself.
