Mame engines require uci commands "uci, isready"

Hi.
I am using this library in picochess now. It works well. I would like to also load so called "mame" engines which are so old that I need the mame tool to execute them. They do load, but if I call play() I get an exception. I was wondering that I might to need to send them stdin commands "uci" and "readyok" to get them into playing mode. Can someone help me how that could be done using this newer python chess module? The old "python-chess" module has a function called self.engine.uci() which accomplishes this. Is there any similar here?

Ah, my mistake. No need to send "uci" or "readyok" even with very old chess engines like Mephisto IV :-)
I will close this discussion. The library works well it seems with old engines as well. Nice!
