The Python Package Index

pypi
United States of America

The Python Software Foundation is the 501(c)(3) charitable organization behind the Python programming language. PyPI is a massive service, which the PSF provides for free to the public. The PSF’s team is small-but-mighty, and it’s a challenge to keep PyPI going, especially as usage continues to soar.

PyPI by the numbers:

  • pypi.org receives 6 million unique visitors per month, and users download billions of packages per day
  • PyPI hosts over 600,000 packages
  • PyPI files are served at a rate of 4 Terabytes a minute.
  • PyPI users have collectively downloaded over 1 exabyte of data in 2025 as of September.

Donations from individuals like you to the PSF are critical to keeping our work going year after year and allow us to keep providing PyPI to everyone to use at no cost. Thank you for your support!
