UltraEdge for EdgeTX RC Radios

App: proprietary Firmware: GPL v2 Protocol: MIT User Manual iPhone: sponsor the testing

Your Android phone as the touchscreen for your EdgeTX radio, over a USB cable.

Get it on Google Play

iPhone: in development. One basic test on a borrowed iPhone so far; sponsor the testing to get it to the App Store (planned February 2027, tentative).

Plug the phone into a radio running UltraEdge firmware (EdgeTX plus a small companion module) to edit models, watch telemetry and run Lua tools on a large screen. The radio runs the control loop. The phone edits supported settings, which the radio validates and saves. Unplug it and the radio keeps flying.

This repository is the app's public home: the user manual, privacy policy, changelog and issue tracker. The app is distributed only through Google Play; there are no APK downloads here, and the app source isn't published.

Features

  • Home dashboard: trims, sticks, timers, battery, RSSI, flight mode, and your radio's telemetry screens
  • Model editing in EdgeTX's terms: inputs, mixes, outputs, curves, logical switches, special functions, GVars, flight modes and telemetry sensors, in a two-pane editor
  • Manage Models: select, copy and delete models on the radio; back them up on the phone and restore them
  • Trainer setup, and a channel Monitor with your physical sticks, pots and switches
  • Radio settings, guided stick and pot calibration, sensor discovery
  • Flight logs copied off the radio, with charts and a GPS track in the app
  • Lua tools such as ExpressLRS configuration, run inside the app

Which version?

Production: app 1.6.2 (Google Play) with firmware v1.2.0 for 56 EdgeTX radios: companion builds on black-and-white radios, full builds on colour radios. Hardware-verified 2026-11-01: RadioMaster Pocket, Zorro and TX16S, FrSky QX7; the other 52 are built, not hardware-tested yet (Supported radios). Beta: app 1.6.3 (join open testing), the same app and firmware. Want the radio's own menus on Pocket, Zorro or QX7? Use the v1.1.2.4 full builds. Details: User Manual › Which version?

Get it

  1. Install from Google Play (Android 7.0 or newer, a phone with USB host/OTG).
  2. Flash UltraEdge firmware to your radio: see EdgeTX-UE releases.
  3. Plug in over USB. When Android asks whether to open UltraEdge for the USB device, tap OK. Full guide: User Manual.

Useful downloads (SD card and Lua scripts)

For the app, download the first two in System › Downloads and import the others in System › Phone storage. For the radio itself, copy them to its SD card with a card reader.

Related projects

  • EdgeTX-UE: the firmware (EdgeTX plus the companion overlay), GPL-2.0-only.
  • UE Protocol: the radio↔phone link (specification, reference codec, tests).

Where it's going: the app is the first step toward a modular radio, where the gimbals, switches and case you like stay while the screen, processing and RF can be upgraded. Nothing beyond the app and firmware is available yet.

Privacy and licences

UltraEdge collects no personal data and needs no account. It talks to your radio over USB and uses the internet only when you ask System › Downloads for a voice pack or the iNav Lua telemetry. See the Privacy Policy and Open-Source Notices.

Support

Open an issue for a bug or a request. Attach the diagnostics log (System › Diagnostics › Share log) and, for firmware problems, your radio's Version page lines.
