The quick-start tutorial is the shortest route from a table to an RO-Crate. Use the pages below when you want to understand or adapt a specific part of the workflow.
| If you want to… | Continue with… |
|---|---|
| understand why the services are combined | Why Tabular |
| make column meanings and units explicit | Describe columns |
| clean an input file or inspect the package | Data and RO-Crate |
| send the result to a repository | Deposit in Coscine |
| create and rearrange workflows | Use the visual workflow |
| solve a problem or check data safety | Troubleshooting and safe use |
| run, build, or release the software | Development and releases |
Tabular describes a research output at two levels:
- Column metadata explains what individual fields mean and which quantities and units they use.
- Dataset metadata explains the table as a research object: its title, description, licence, dates, contributors, and other profile requirements.
The RO-Crate node packages both levels with the data. Coscine can provide the dataset metadata requirements for a selected repository resource and receive the completed package.
Each tutorial begins with an outcome, proceeds through small actions, and ends
with a check. Try the action in Tabular before moving to the next numbered
step. The i button on every node provides a shorter reminder inside the
application.
