[Feature]: Timing table: option to disable the row detail when all columns are visible #778
All information in this issue is written in English. Issues containing non-English content will be closed without response.
Component
Live data card
Problem to Solve
Tapping a driver in a timing table expands a detail row with all fields. On a wide screen (wall tablet) where all columns are already visible, this simply duplicates the row. The detail row uses the same table-cell part as regular cells, so it cannot be hidden with card styles either.
Proposed Solution
Only offer the detail row when the table actually hides columns, or add a module option (for example row_details: auto | always | never) to disable it.
Alternatives
Give the detail row its own part name (for example table-detail) so it can be hidden with styles.
Thanks for pointing this out. You’re right that expanding a driver adds little value when it only repeats fields already visible in the timing table.
We’ve implemented a change in the new modular live data card. You can now choose which fields and recent laps appear in driver details, independently of the table columns. Information already shown in the table is omitted, and a driver cannot be expanded when there is nothing extra to show. You can also disable driver details entirely.
Details still expand directly beneath each driver’s row, and several drivers can be open at once. Minisectors can be selected for the expanded details without adding them to the table. The expanded row also has its own styling part.
This feature has been implemented and is available for testing in v5.8.0-beta.1, a BETA pre-release of F1 Sensor.
To test the beta version, open HACS in Home Assistant, go to Integrations, and find F1 Sensor. Click the three-dot menu and select Redownload. Make sure Show beta versions is enabled in the HACS settings for this integration. Alternatively, you can download the release manually from the Releases page.
For live data card changes, restart Home Assistant after updating and reload your browser so the dashboard loads the latest bundled card assets.
Your feedback on the beta is very welcome — please report any issues you run into so they can be addressed before the stable release.
