Are there any plans to release the latest main with the relaxed dependencies from #20? As time progresses, it becomes more and more difficult to install this package since the rest of the community has moved on to newer versions of each of the dependencies.

There will not be a new pypi release, you can install this version from main.
GEO-Bench-2 is the successor of this benchmark and does contain lat/lon metadata when available in the original dataset. You can also look at torchgeo-bench for an actively maintained evaluation framework.
