What

GLM-5.3-Flash Ops collection and pricing were limited to GB300 (TP1/2/4, FP8 KV, arm64 images). This PR extends them to H100, H200, B300 and GB200 for vLLM 0.31.0 and SGLang 0.5.20:

  • TP8 (shared with the FPM PR). The SDK gate and the four Rust validators (attention, mHC, FFN, primitive) accept TP8. 64 attention/KDA heads, the 12288 dense width and the 154880 vocab all divide by 8. TP3 and TP16 stay rejected. Whether a deployment fits a system is left to the memory checks (TP8 is the FP8 deployment on H100 and an option on H200).
  • BF16 sparse KV (shared with the FPM PR). kvcache_quant_mode flows into the Glm53Attention identity (FP8 or BF16 on both backends; INT8 and others are rejected). The Rust op scales the latent cache bytes and the sparse-MLA latent traffic by the KV element width. IndexPool keys and pool tails are dtype-independent. FP8 pricing is bit-identical, including the pinned vLLM SOL golden.
  • Attention collector per system. Runtime images are keyed by (backend, arch), with the amd64 and arm64 children of the pinned indexes. --system reads GPUs per node, per-GPU memory and the NVLink domain from the system YAML, and --tp 8 is added. Admission is capacity-only. kv_cache_dtype is part of the row key, and one table holds one KV dtype. The runners and the vLLM worker check the served or resolved KV dtype and the container arch. PYTHONNOUSERSITE=1 is set in the container. finalize only writes a table under data/<system>/glm53_attention/<backend>/<version>/. Only NCCL_MNNVL_ENABLE is gated on a multi-node NVLink domain.
  • Cases. Three TP8 off-grid GEMM widths at k=4096: 3336 (vLLM fused KDA in_proj), 8 (SGLang KDA b_proj) and 19360 (lm_head). An 8-head KDA row. An explicit SGLang SM90 MoE entry, fp8_block: {90: triton}, cited to the v0.5.20 source and confirmed against H200 serving dispatch.
  • SGLang Triton MoE config source. The SGLang MoE collector records whether each timed Triton call used a tuned JSON or SGLang's default config. It writes this to a sidecar, moe_perf.triton_config.jsonl, and never changes the choice. The row schema and labels are unchanged.
  • Consumer. GLM attention rows resolve per system and KV dtype from an external systems root. A table that mixes FP8 and BF16 is rejected. The other KV identity is a coverage gap and never borrows a row.

GB300 (NVL72) SM103, arm64 unchanged FP8
  • Hopper BF16 KV is a distinct identity. SGLang's IndexPool DSA backends cannot read FP8 KV on SM90. Stock vLLM 0.31.0 cannot serve FP8 KV on SM90 either: FLASHINFER_MLA_SPARSE_SM90 passes the FP8 cache to FlashInfer 0.7.0.post1 plan() as uint8 storage, which the planner rejects. Hopper therefore runs BF16 KV, stock, with no patch or FlashInfer downgrade. The consumer refuses an FP8 sparse-KV GLM-5.3-Flash engine on SM9x at every engine build (forward-pass readiness, EngineHandle.compile, InferenceSession, including ops nested in FPM SOL anchors; the FP8 default included); pass kvcache_quant_mode="bfloat16".
  • NVFP4 is Blackwell-only. Hopper NVFP4 is excluded by design.
  • The MNNVL environment applies only to NVL72 systems (GB200/GB300). HGX systems keep NVLS and symmetric memory on.

Dependencies

  • Based on current main. The first two commits (TP8; BF16 KV pricing) are shared with the GLM-5.3-Flash FPM PR, with identical content. Whichever PR merges first carries them, and the other PR's diff shrinks.
  • The per-platform Ops tables are not in this PR. They ship through the separate data-integration process.

Proposed owner decisions

  1. GEMM dtype crossing at BF16-only widths (no mechanism change in this PR). The off-grid widths 8, 16, 288, 3336, 6416, 12576, 19360, 24896, 38720, 77440 and 154880 (k=4096) belong to layers stored in BF16 in both pinned checkpoints: the KDA projections, the router gate and lm_head (modules_to_not_convert in zai-org/GLM-5.3-Flash@eb9eb208; exclude_modules in nvidia/GLM-5.3-Flash-NVFP4@09b04e5e). The case generator crosses every model GEMM width with every GEMM dtype, so it also plans fp8/fp8_block/nvfp4 rows at these widths. On vLLM fp8_block, the N % 16 != 0 widths (3336, 8) fail in triton_scaled_mm and are recorded as classified failures. The consumer never reads a quantized GEMM at these widths (checked by an SDK enumeration at TP1/2/4/8 for both checkpoints and backends), so no needed row is lost. The proposed future fix is an optional per-row gemm_types field, which needs the collector-policy owner's approval.
  2. SGLang SM90 shared-expert fusion (known modelling deviation). On SM90, SGLang 0.5.20 fuses the shared expert into the routed Triton MoE (E=289, top-9). The collector and the consumer keep 288 routed experts (top-8) plus separate shared-expert GEMMs, as on SM10x. This is documented in the case YAML, with no contract change. Hopper SGLang Ops accuracy is reported separately below.

Tests

  • ruff check / ruff format --check: clean.
  • Python unit suite (-m unit): 11909 passed, 29 skipped at the final production code (collector unit 3731 passed); CI application tests green on c8e09bd. One unrelated failure in the local environment only: test_fpm_learned.py::test_feature_list_is_unique_and_bounded needs scikit-learn (the learned extra), which is not installed.
  • cargo test -p aisimulate-core --lib: 2010 passed, 1 ignored (head c8e09bd).
  • Engine-step and compiled-engine parity suites: 390 passed. Goldens are unchanged, so other models are byte-identical and GLM FP8 pricing is unchanged.
  • scripts/ci/check_packaged_legal_files.py: OK.
  • CODEOWNERS build (diff-aware, strict), drift check and policy tests: OK.

Ops accuracy (strict SILICON, op-level sum, fallback deny; gate MAPE <= 20 %)

The eval was run from this branch (head 379f433, with the FPM branch at e3dca97); the final head c8e09bd adds only a test change, so production code is identical. It recomputes with 0 mismatches. Predictions are identical to an evaluation at the pre-merge development heads on all five platforms.

* Hopper SGLang carries the shared-expert fusion deviation (owner decision 2).

Notes:

  • Ops prefill gap (all platforms). Ops prefill misses the gate on every platform, GB300 included. The cause is a modelling gap: the op model has no per-step host or eager-break term. Strict SILICON prefill FAIL MAPE by platform: GB300 20.1–64.4 % (37 cells), GB200 24.8–64.9 % (27), B300 20.4–52.0 % (28), H200 20.4–49.0 % (13), H100 23.4–46.0 % (7). Decode passes or sits near the gate.
  • B300 SGLang decode bias. This is an observation without attribution. SGLang decode has a signed bias of +15.2 to +23.6 % on B300 (16 cells), against +4.4 to +12.4 % on GB300. This is accepted as observed, with no further investigation.
  • B300 attention rank skew. Three B300 decode attention attempts show a rank-latency skew of 1.02–1.04 median (max <= 1.09), with clean clocks and thermals. They are kept. They could add at most about 4 % of high bias, which does not explain the roughly +20 % SGLang fp8-tp2 decode bias.

The 64 attention/KDA heads, 12288 dense width and 154880 vocab all
divide by 8, and TP8 is the FP8 deployment for 80/141 GiB Hopper GPUs.
Accept TP8 in the SDK model gate and the four Rust validators (attention,
mHC, FFN, primitive); TP3/TP16 stay rejected. Whether a deployment fits
is a per-system capacity question answered by the memory checks, so the
GB300-specific comment is generalized.

SGLang serves BF16 latent KV on SM90 (its IndexPool DSA backends cannot
read FP8 KV), and stock vLLM 0.31.0 cannot serve FP8 KV on SM90 either:
FLASHINFER_MLA_SPARSE_SM90 passes the FP8 cache as uint8 storage to
FlashInfer 0.7.0.post1 plan(), which rejects that kv_data_type. Both
backends therefore serve BF16 KV on H100/H200, but the GLM model assumed
a 1-byte FP8 latent everywhere.

The SDK now passes kvcache_quant_mode into the Glm53Attention identity
(FP8 or BF16 on both backends; anything else, including INT8, is
rejected), and the Rust op scales the latent cache bytes and the
sparse-MLA latent read/write by the KV element width (512 x 2 B per
token for BF16). IndexPool keys (FP8 + FP32 scale) and the BF16 pool
tails are dtype-independent, as in SGLang 0.5.20
kv_cache_configurator/index_key_cache. FP8 pricing, including the
pinned vLLM SOL golden, is bit-identical (the width is 1.0); other
models are untouched.

The attention launcher and contract were tied to GB300 NVL72 and its
arm64 images. Parameterize them per system so H100/H200/B300 (8-GPU HGX,
x86) and GB200 can publish rows:

- --tp adds 8; --system reads the system YAML for GPUs per node
(--gres, overridable by --gpus-per-node), per-GPU memory and whether
the NVLink domain spans nodes; --account/--partition are required.
- Admission is capacity only: TP wider than one node or a checkpoint
whose per-rank weights exceed one GPU is refused; every other TP,
including TP1 on either backend, is left to runtime observation.
- RUNTIME_IMAGES is keyed by (backend, arch) with the arm64 and amd64
children of the pinned v0.31.0 / v0.5.20 indexes; rows, tables and
collection_meta follow the row's digest, and the runners refuse a
  container of another architecture.
- kv_cache_dtype is an explicit geometry field (fp8 or bfloat16 on both
backends; BF16 on SM90). One table never mixes KV dtypes; the SGLang
runner checks the served --kv-cache-dtype against the key and the
vLLM worker checks the engine's resolved cache_dtype.
- The container exports PYTHONNOUSERSITE=1 so a host user site-packages
cannot shadow the pinned image's framework packages.
- NCCL_NVLS_ENABLE and VLLM_USE_NCCL_SYMM_MEM stay on for every system;
only NCCL_MNNVL_ENABLE requires an NVLink domain that spans nodes
(GB200/GB300). The exported environment is recorded in the manifest
  and collection_meta.

On SM90 SGLang serves GLM-5.3-Flash FP8 MoE through Triton with its
default kernel config when no tuned JSON exists. Observe, without
changing the choice, whether each timed Triton call resolved a tuned
JSON or the default config: the two SGLang config functions are wrapped
for the timed block (both the framework runner and the direct path use
them) and one record per persisted row goes to
moe_perf.triton_config.jsonl. The perf row schema and kernel_source
labels are unchanged.

…E backend

TP8 adds three per-rank widths off the base GEMM grid at k=4096: the
vLLM fused KDA in_proj 3*1024+8+256 = 3336, the SGLang KDA b_proj
64/8 = 8 and lm_head 154880/8 = 19360 (same formulas as the TP1/2/4
widths); every other TP8 GLM GEMM is on the base grid. Add the 8-head
KDA row and generalize the description from the GB300 TP scope.

SGLang 0.5.20 forces flashinfer_trtllm only under is_sm100; on SM90 the
fp8 runner stays auto and Fp8MoEMethod resolves it to triton without an
a2a backend. H200 serving confirmed triton fused MoE fp8_w8a8 block
[128, 128] with the default kernel config, so add the explicit
90: triton entry with the citations. Document the known SM90 modelling
deviation: serving fuses the shared expert (E=289, top-9) while the
collector and the consumer keep 288 routed experts plus shared-expert
GEMMs, as on SM10x.

The GLM attention reader already keys rows by the full Glm53Attention
body, so a BF16-KV SGLang deployment resolves only BF16 rows. Make the
table contract explicit: one file holds one latent KV dtype, and a
mixed FP8/BF16 file is rejected. Cover the consumer for SGLang TP8 on
h100_sxm/h200_sxm (BF16 KV) and b300_sxm/gb200 (FP8 KV) from an
external systems root, both at the Rust table level and through the
public forward-pass model; the other KV identity is a coverage gap,
never a borrowed row.

Document the per-arch runtime images, the KV dtype identity (BF16 KV on
SM90 for both runtimes, with the stock vLLM 0.31.0 FP8-KV root cause),
the --system/--arch/--gpus-per-node/--kv-cache-dtype launcher arguments,
capacity-only admission, and the NVL72-only MNNVL environment.

Replace the internal job reference and local evidence path in the case

📝 Summary

Risk: High. Human review should focus on nested SM90 KV validation, KV-dtype table identity and row selection, and BF16 KV accounting.

Changed behavior and contracts

  • Engine construction now validates GLM-5.3-Flash KV configuration in every database mode and at every build entry point.
  • The SM90–SM99 rule rejects FP8 sparse KV and requires kvcache_quant_mode="bfloat16".
  • Validation traverses nested FPM and DSV4.1 operations, including FpmForward.sol_ops and Dsv41Stage.children.
  • GLM-5.3-Flash accepts TP1, TP2, TP4, and TP8. TP3 and TP16 remain unsupported.
  • Sparse MLA accepts FP8 and BF16 latent KV. KV dtype affects cache sizing, SOL traffic, serving configuration, and attention-table identity.
  • The collector validates system capacity, checkpoint memory, KV dtype, runtime architecture, and output identity.
  • Collection adds TP8 GEMM and KDA cases, an SGLang SM90 Triton MoE case, and a JSONL sidecar for Triton configuration observations.

Evidence and limitations

  • The supplied commit history shows dedicated fixes for build-time validation, nested FPM/DSV4.1 traversal, and explicit SM90 collector KV-dtype handling.
  • Reported checks include clean Ruff checks, 11,895 Python tests passed with 29 skipped, 2,007 Rust tests passed with 1 ignored, and 390 engine parity tests passed.
  • Reported tests cover H100 and H200 at TP4 and TP8, BF16 controls, Blackwell FP8, external-root rejection, and FPM-engine rejection.
  • Legal-file, CODEOWNERS, drift, and policy checks were reported as passing. No independent test logs were supplied.
  • Platform Ops tables are excluded. Hopper NVFP4 remains excluded. Reported modelling deviations include prefill misses and B300 SGLang decode bias.
  • Review-finding counts are unavailable because no current findings were supplied.

Quality and merge readiness

The changes have targeted unit, contract, engine, and parity-test coverage. Technical review must confirm that all nested operation paths are covered, KV-dtype row selection is correct, BF16 sizing and latency calculations remain consistent, and Triton observation does not alter timed execution. Merge readiness is not established by the supplied evidence.

Changes

GLM-5.3-Flash modeling and collection now support TP8 and BF16 latent-KV configurations. Collection identity includes cache dtype, runtime architecture, and deployment details. The SGLang MoE collector records Triton config-selection observations.

The support-matrix classifier still matches only TP1/2/4 at python/aisimulate/tools/support_matrix/fpe_support_matrix.py:530-532; the new rejection therefore falls through to STATUS_BUILD_FAILED at lines 539-561. Its test still covers only the old diagnostic at python/aisimulate/tests/unit/support_matrix/test_fpe_support_matrix.py:433-472. The native contract and SOL documents still state TP1/2/4 or TP2/TP4 at docs/glm53flash-native-contract.md:17-24 and docs/glm53flash-sol.md:10-12. The FPM scheduler still limits campaigns to TP2/TP4 for FP8 and TP1/2/4 for NVFP4 at python/aisimulate/collector/fpm_forward/runtime/glm53flash/glm53flash_prefix_scheduler.py:82-83,240-251, with no changed validation test or documentation cross-reference. None of these stale consumers is in the PR diff.

Resolution

Update the support-matrix regex and tests for the TP1/2/4/8 diagnostic, and add a TP16 classification test. Update the native-contract and SOL documents to state model TP8 support while identifying narrower GB300 or campaign scope separately. Add an FPM validation test and documentation cross-reference for its intentional TP restriction, or add TP8 to the FPM campaign if it must track the SDK contract.

Full details: Modeling And Data Evidence

Explanation

The SM90 performance path remains an unexplained modeling change. The PR adds SM90 Triton collection at python/aisimulate/collector/cases/models/Glm5NextForConditionalGeneration_cases.yaml:75-94, but the row still models 288 experts with top-8 at lines 62-66 while its own comment states that SM90 serves fused E=289/top-9 and that the deviation was “not reproduced” at lines 85-90. The changed plan test only checks the 90→triton mapping and retains 288/top-8 at python/aisimulate/tests/unit/collector/test_glm5next_collection_plan.py:89-108. The new observer tests use synthetic calls and validate metadata capture, not SM90 operation counts or performance (python/aisimulate/tests/unit/collector/sglang/test_moe_config_observation.py:22-33,68-88). No changed-file evidence provides a before/after measurement, independent oracle, machine-readable comparison, or anomaly check for this deviation.

Resolution

Either model the SM90 collector and consumer as fused E=289/top-9, or add reproducible SM90 measurements with an explained comparison against the separate 288/top-8 plus shared-expert decomposition. Add machine-readable evidence or a test that validates the operation counts and flags the deviation before SM90 performance data is accepted.

Full details: Compatibility Boundaries

Explanation

The previous SM90 compatibility failure remains. check_deployment rejects only an omitted dtype on SM90–SM99 (python/aisimulate/collector/glm53flash_attention_launch.py:100-111). An explicit --kv-cache-dtype fp8 passes the backend-wide membership check, then prepare writes FP8 geometry and the launch command (lines 160 and 225-226). Both H100 and H200 system YAMLs declare sm_version: 90 (python/aisimulate/src/aisimulate_core/systems/h100_sxm.yaml:15-18 and h200_sxm.yaml:15-18), while the collector documentation and Rust readiness rule require BF16 on SM90 (README.glm53flash_attention.md:30-44; crates/core/src/perfmodel/engine/readiness.rs:94-117). The added launcher tests cover omitted SM90 dtype and explicit BF16, but do not reject explicit FP8 (test_glm53flash_attention_contract.py:619-654). This PR therefore leaves the Python launcher contract and the Rust/runtime compatibility boundary unsynchronized.

Resolution

In check_deployment, reject args.kv_cache_dtype == "fp8" whenever spec["sm_version"] is 90–99, for both backends. Keep explicit bfloat16 accepted. Add H100 and H200 launcher tests that reject omitted and explicit FP8 dtypes and accept explicit BF16. Assert that accepted manifests and serving commands contain BF16 geometry and the bfloat16 runtime flag.

Full details: Review Evidence

Explanation

The supplied PR description is truncated before its evidence section is complete. The available objective summary names commands and results, including ruff check, ruff format --check, Python and Rust test counts, parity tests, and negative cases such as TP3/TP16 and SM90 FP8-KV rejection. It does not establish whether the full description distinguishes local, fake-runner, parity, and production evidence, or whether it cites inactive nested workflows as hosted CI evidence. The repository guidance confirms that imported workflows are not hosted-CI evidence (REVIEW.md:138-140).

Resolution

Provide the complete PR description or its exact Evidence section. Verify each reported result is labeled by evidence type and that only root .github/workflows/ workflows are presented as hosted CI.

  • Existing H200 vLLM deployments are TP8: both aggregated and disaggregated launch commands pass --tensor-parallel-size 8. [::ai-dynamo/dynamo::] recipes/glm-5.3-flash/vllm/agg-h200-agentic/deploy.yaml:142; recipes/glm-5.3-flash/vllm/disagg-h200-agentic/deploy.yaml:140
  • Dynamo’s documentation identifies those TP8 H200 deployments as using BF16 KV cache, while the launch commands do not explicitly pass --kv-cache-dtype. [::ai-dynamo/dynamo::] docs/fern/pages/recipes/model-recipes/glm-5-3-flash.mdx:406-413
  • The same documentation identifies GB200 TP4 vLLM deployments as BF16-KV, not FP8-KV. The new system/dtype mapping should preserve coverage for these existing consumers rather than assuming all non-SM90 systems use FP8. [::ai-dynamo/dynamo::] recipes/glm-5.3-flash/vllm/agg-gb200-agentic/deploy.yaml:178-182; docs/fern/pages/recipes/model-recipes/glm-5-3-flash.mdx:408-413

  • The frozen DSA table contract keys context rows by mla_dtype, kv_cache_dtype, gemm_type, architecture, backend, heads, prefix, sequence length, and batch size; generation rows also include KV dtype. BF16 latent KV changes exactly two SOL byte terms of sparse MLA by one
byte per latent element: the NoPE latent read over the selected pairs
and the KV publication of the new tokens. Assert the exact mem_ms delta
for a decode and a context geometry on both backends (selected pairs
2050 and 10 from the pinned sparse_pairs values) and that no FLOP term
changes. A wrong width or a doubly applied scale now fails.

…rectory

The Rust reader identifies a GLM attention table's system only by its
directory, data/<system>/glm53_attention/<backend>/<version>/. finalize
checked only that the attempts agree on one system, so a B300 table
written under data/gb200 would load as GB200 silicon. Require the
output path to end with the attempts' system, backend and runtime
version. Attempt manifests without a recorded system come from the
launcher before per-system collection, which targeted GB300 only, and
are bound to gb300; a table never mixes recorded and unrecorded systems.

… identity

The contract, README, launcher help and case description implied that
every SM10x deployment serves FP8 KV. The collected SM10x identity is
FP8 (explicit fp8_e4m3); vLLM's auto would resolve BF16 for this
checkpoint, so a BF16-KV SM10x deployment is a separate identity that
needs its own table (--kv-cache-dtype bfloat16). SM90 runtimes serve
only BF16 KV. Comments, help text and docs only.

Signed-off-by: Harry Lee <harrli@nvidia.com>
The pinned SM90 runtimes serve GLM-5.3-Flash only with BF16 KV, so the
Hopper TP8 constructibility test now requests that served identity
explicitly and checks it is kept in the resolved configuration.

[medium] Reject unsupported Hopper FP8 KV at the system-aware boundary

The issue tracked in the existing discussion remains in python/aisimulate/src/aisimulate_core/sdk/models/glm53flash.py:144-145. The latest commit makes the Hopper TP8 test request BF16, but does not reject FP8 KV. With the pinned H100 system overlays, TP8 and kvcache_quant_mode="fp8", the real op-level SOL estimator still returns 8.21367 ms for vLLM 0.31.0 and 8.19744 ms for SGLang 0.5.20 (batch 32, input 4096, output 2). Both pinned runtimes require BF16 KV on Hopper, so this newly admitted TP8 configuration predicts an unsupported deployment. Add a rejection where the GPU system is known and cover FP8 rejection alongside the valid BF16 control. FPM cell selection already refuses this dtype mismatch; the missing guard is in the op-level path.

Reject NVFP4 deployments on Hopper.

For --system h200_sxm --checkpoint nvfp4 --tp 8 --kv-cache-dtype bfloat16, the TP and per-rank weight checks admit the job. The stated deployment scope limits NVFP4 to Blackwell. Reject that unsupported system/checkpoint combination before writing a runnable attempt, and cover it with a launch test.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Reject explicit system-incompatible KV dtypes before submission.

check_deployment() accepts fp8 for H200 because both backends list fp8 in KV_CACHE_DTYPES. The launcher then submits the selected serving dtype without checking the system. The pinned SM90 runtimes support only BF16 KV, so an explicit --system h200_sxm --kv-cache-dtype fp8 can submit an invalid collection attempt instead of failing during deployment validation.

ai-dynamo/dynamo

  • Existing GLM-5.3-Flash vLLM deployments use TP8 on H200 and TP4 on GB200, matching the PR’s expanded topology support. However, their launch commands do not explicitly set --kv-cache-dtype; Dynamo documentation identifies these deployments as using BF16 KV cache. [::ai-dynamo/dynamo::] recipes/glm-5.3-flash/vllm/agg-h200-agentic/deploy.yaml:135-142; recipes/glm-5.3-flash/vllm/agg-gb200-agentic/deploy.yaml:177-182; docs/fern/pages/recipes/model-recipes/glm-5-3-flash.mdx:406-413
  • Dynamo’s generic vLLM aggregate template hardcodes --kv-cache-dtype fp8, so generated deployments must avoid applying that default to the GLM BF16-KV configurations. [::ai-dynamo/dynamo::] recipes/templates/vllm/agg/deploy-v1beta1.template.yaml:84-87

ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator

  • Backend rules normalize SGLang FP8 to fp8_e4m3, while BF16 is emitted as auto for both vLLM and SGLang. The new collector’s dtype normalization should remain compatible with this convention. [::ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator::] src/aiconfigurator/generator/rule_plugin/benchmark/vllm.rule:26-27; src/aiconfigurator/generator/rule_plugin/benchmark/sglang.rule:23-27
  • The frozen GLM5 sparse-kernel collector intentionally records mla_dtype=bfloat16 for DSA attention while keeping kv_cache_dtype=fp8_e4m3. This confirms that FMHA/MLA compute dtype and latent KV storage dtype are separate identities; BF16 KV rows must not be produced by changing the existing mla_dtype semantics. [::ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator::] collector/sglang/glm5_dsa_sparse_modules.py:151-157
  • The compatibility manifest registers GLM5 sparse attention, MQA-logits, and top-k tables for H100/H200 and Blackwell systems, all as SGLang artifacts. [::ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator::] aic-core/src/aiconfigurator_core/systems/perf_data_reuse_manifest.yaml:967-981

The stock SM90 runtimes serve GLM-5.3-Flash with BF16 latent KV only:
SGLang 0.5.20's IndexPool DSA backends cannot read FP8 KV, and vLLM
0.31.0 FLASHINFER_MLA_SPARSE_SM90 hands an FP8 cache to FlashInfer
0.7.0.post1 plan() as uint8 storage, which it rejects. With TP8 newly
admitted, the op-level SOL estimator still priced FP8 KV on H100/H200
(about 8.2 ms at B32, input 4096, output 2), a deployment neither
runtime can serve.

Engine readiness, which runs at construction in every database mode,
now refuses a GLM-5.3-Flash sparse-MLA op with FP8 KV when the system
spec reports SM9x, for both backends. The error names the runtime
reason and asks for kvcache_quant_mode="bfloat16"; this also covers the
FP8 default, and the requested dtype is never switched. Blackwell FP8,
BF16 on Hopper, KDA layers and every other model are unchanged; the
parity goldens are untouched.

…root test

On h100_sxm/h200_sxm the BF16-KV TP8 table still resolves SILICON; the
FP8-KV identity is now refused at construction instead of falling back
to SOL. Blackwell keeps the BF16 identity as a SOL coverage gap.

Without --kv-cache-dtype the launcher recorded FP8 KV, which the stock
SM90 runtimes cannot serve for GLM-5.3-Flash (BF16 only). The launcher
now reads sm_version from the system YAML and refuses a Hopper attempt
that does not name its KV dtype; elsewhere the default stays FP8. An
explicit dtype is passed through unchanged and observed at runtime.

@simone-chen Thanks, agreed. Fixed in 6aabeb5; #515 has the same change as b2bf5f6.

Engine readiness runs at construction in every database mode, SOL included. It now refuses GLM-5.3-Flash FP8 sparse KV on SM9x systems for both backends. The error says the stock SM90 runtimes serve BF16 KV only, and asks for kvcache_quant_mode="bfloat16". That includes the FP8 default; the dtype is never switched. Blackwell FP8 and Hopper BF16 are unchanged, and the goldens are untouched.

Your H100 TP8 B32/4096/2 repro now raises, for both backends. The new tests cover h100/h200 at TP4 and TP8, with BF16 controls and Blackwell FP8.

This PR also has two related commits:

  • 5fe8103: the external-root test now expects the rejection.
  • 15dfa41: the attention launcher requires an explicit --kv-cache-dtype on SM90.

related test to expect the readiness error for a missing SM version.

Review comments at @python/aisimulate/collector/glm53flash_attention_launch.py:
- Line 90: Require a non-missing gpu.sm_version when building system_spec before
check_deployment selects the KV default; replace the optional lookup with
validation that fails loudly for custom H100 or H200 YAML lacking this value,
while preserving valid-version behavior. Add coverage for a custom YAML omitting
gpu.sm_version and assert it is rejected.

Linked repositories findings

ai-dynamo/dynamo

  • Existing GLM-5.3-Flash vLLM deployments use TP8 on H200 and TP4 on GB200, matching the PR’s expanded topology support. However, their launch commands do not explicitly set --kv-cache-dtype; Dynamo documentation identifies these deployments as using BF16 KV cache. [::ai-dynamo/dynamo::] recipes/glm-5.3-flash/vllm/agg-h200-agentic/deploy.yaml:135-142; recipes/glm-5.3-flash/vllm/agg-gb200-agentic/deploy.yaml:177-182; docs/fern/pages/recipes/model-recipes/glm-5-3-flash.mdx:406-413
  • Dynamo’s generic vLLM aggregate template hardcodes --kv-cache-dtype fp8, so generated deployments must avoid applying that default to the GLM BF16-KV configurations. [::ai-dynamo/dynamo::] recipes/templates/vllm/agg/deploy-v1beta1.template.yaml:84-87

ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator

  • Backend rules normalize SGLang FP8 to fp8_e4m3, while BF16 is emitted as auto for both vLLM and SGLang. The new collector’s dtype normalization should remain compatible with this convention. [::ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator::] src/aiconfigurator/generator/rule_plugin/benchmark/vllm.rule:26-27; src/aiconfigurator/generator/rule_plugin/benchmark/sglang.rule:23-27
  • The frozen GLM5 sparse-kernel collector intentionally records mla_dtype=bfloat16 for DSA attention while keeping kv_cache_dtype=fp8_e4m3. This confirms that FMHA/MLA compute dtype and latent KV storage dtype are separate identities; BF16 KV rows must not be produced by changing the existing mla_dtype semantics. [::ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator::] collector/sglang/glm5_dsa_sparse_modules.py:151-157
  • The compatibility manifest registers GLM5 sparse attention, MQA-logits, and top-k tables for H100/H200 and Blackwell systems, all as SGLang artifacts. [::ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator::] aic-core/src/aiconfigurator_core/systems/perf_data_reuse_manifest.yaml:967-981

The SM90 FP8 sparse-KV rule ran only in forward-pass readiness, so
EngineHandle.compile and the InferenceSession static path, which build
the engine without that validation, still priced FP8 KV on H100/H200
(8.21 ms vLLM, 8.20 ms SGLang at B32, input 4096, output 2). Engine::build
now applies the same check to every GLM-5.3-Flash attention op,
including ops nested in token-scale, overlap and fallback wrappers,
before any table is read and in every database mode. BF16 and Blackwell
FP8 are unchanged; other models are untouched.

Linked repositories findings

ai-dynamo/dynamo

  • GLM-5.3 vLLM documentation specifies BF16 KV cache for H200 and GB200 TP8/TP4 deployments, but the concrete launch commands omit --kv-cache-dtype; the generic vLLM template defaults it to FP8. This is an integration risk for the PR’s explicit KV-dtype identity and validation. [::ai-dynamo/dynamo::] docs/fern/pages/recipes/model-recipes/glm-5-3-flash.mdx:406-413; recipes/glm-5.3-flash/vllm/agg-h200-agentic/deploy.yaml:135-147; recipes/templates/vllm/agg/deploy-v1beta1.template.yaml:84-87
  • SGLang GLM-5.3 manifests explicitly select fp8_e4m3 KV cache, providing a concrete downstream spelling that the new contract must continue accepting. [::ai-dynamo/dynamo::] recipes/glm-5.3-flash/sglang/agg-b200-agentic/kustomize/base/deploy.yaml:89-98

ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator

  • The frozen dynamo-ci adapter normalizes FP8 aliases but rejects any other explicit KV dtype, including bfloat16; this may need compatibility handling if new BF16 identities pass through that adapter. [::ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator::] src/aiconfigurator/sdk/config_adapter/dynamo_ci.py:242-255
  • Existing sparse-MLA collection keeps mla_dtype separate from kv_cache_dtype and records FP8 KV independently, while the performance database keys MLA data by KV dtype. This supports the PR’s separate BF16/FP8 table identity and warns against conflating compute dtype with latent-KV storage dtype. [::ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator::] collector/sglang/glm5_dsa_sparse_modules.py:151-157; aic-core/src/aiconfigurator_core/sdk/perf_database.py:2087-2092

884-934: This test fixes the accept-on-unknown-SM behavior that an earlier review flagged.

The (None, false) case requires Engine::build to accept FP8 sparse-MLA KV when sm_version is unknown. An earlier comment on Lines 107-108 already raised this for validate_glm53_kv_capability. If that rule changes to reject an unknown SM version, update this case together with the (None, false) case at Line 832.

Comment thread crates/core/src/perfmodel/engine/readiness.rs
The engine-build SM90 KV rule returned early for FpmForward and
Dsv41Stage. The GLM FPM rewrite keeps the original phase graph in
FpmForwardOp.sol_ops as its SOL anchor, so an FP8-KV Glm53Attention
nested there escaped the rule. The traversal now descends into
FpmForward.sol_ops and Dsv41Stage.children. A test builds an FPM engine
on SM90 whose sol_ops wrap an FP8-KV GLM attention op and expects the
rejection, with a BF16 control. Other models are untouched.

ai-dynamo/dynamo

  • vLLM GLM-5.3 H200 and GB200 launch commands omit --kv-cache-dtype, despite documentation specifying BF16 KV cache; the generic vLLM template defaults to FP8. This can conflict with the PR’s explicit BF16 identity and SM90 FP8 rejection. [::ai-dynamo/dynamo::] recipes/glm-5.3-flash/vllm/agg-h200-agentic/deploy.yaml:135-158; recipes/glm-5.3-flash/vllm/agg-gb200-agentic/deploy.yaml:177-199; recipes/templates/vllm/agg/deploy-v1beta1.template.yaml:84-87; docs/fern/pages/recipes/model-recipes/glm-5-3-flash.mdx:14,41-70
  • SGLang GLM-5.3 manifests explicitly use the spelling fp8_e4m3 for --kv-cache-dtype, while the vLLM recipes use no explicit dtype. [::ai-dynamo/dynamo::] recipes/glm-5.3-flash/sglang/agg-gb200-agentic/kustomize/base/deploy.yaml:89-96

ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator

  • The frozen Dynamo CI adapter rejects explicit bfloat16 KV dtype, accepting only FP8 aliases, auto, or no value. [::ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator::] src/aiconfigurator/sdk/config_adapter/dynamo_ci.py:242-255
  • Backend generation also rewrites bfloat16 KV dtype to auto for vLLM, SGLang, and TRT-LLM, so BF16 would not remain an explicit cache-identity value through these compatibility paths. [::ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator::] src/aiconfigurator/generator/rule_plugin/benchmark/vllm.rule:26-27; benchmark/sglang.rule:23-27; benchmark/trtllm.rule:43-44

Assert the rule's own message (SM90, sparse-MLA KV, bfloat16) for the
FP8 case, and require the BF16 control to build instead of only checking
that it does not fail with the SM90 message. Test-only.

Bring in #514. The shared GLM-5.3-Flash files
(operators/glm53flash.rs, tests/unit/sdk/models/test_glm53flash.py)
take main's version: #514 carries the same shared commits plus its
Ops-only additions, and this branch has no other changes there. The
pin stays at dbfcdd9e.
