A small recursive unpacking tool for Windows. Point it at a folder and it opens every archive inside — including archives inside archives — until nothing packed is left. Runs in a console window, no admin rights, no install.
Handles: .zip always; .tar .tar.gz .tgz .tar.bz2 .tar.xz via the
tar that ships with Windows 10 (1803+); and .7z if 7-Zip is already
installed on the machine (nothing is bundled or downloaded). The setup screen
shows which formats are live. .rar is not supported.
- Put
Unzipper.batandUnzip-Nested.ps1in the same folder. - Double-click
Unzipper.bat. - Drag a folder into the window (or drop one onto the
.baticon), pick your options, press R.
Needs Windows PowerShell 5.1+, which every supported Windows already has.
- keep nested structure — a zip inside a zip gets its own folder (on) or is
flattened into the folder around it (off). Applies to
.zip; other formats always get their own folder. - collapse single-child folders — after unpacking, fold away redundant
wrapper folders so
Reports\Reports\Reports\filebecomesReports\file. Only folders whose sole contents are one folder are merged; anything holding a file or more than one item is left alone, and no file is ever deleted. - send zipped files to recycle bin — bin each
.zipafter it extracts cleanly. Off by default. - dry run — show a tree of what would happen, change nothing.
Press H in the app for more.
- First run may trigger a SmartScreen warning (it's an unsigned script) — choose
More info → Run anyway, or right-click the
.bat→ Properties → Unblock. - If it won't start, script execution may be locked by policy:
Get-ExecutionPolicy -List. - Nothing is ever overwritten (name clashes become
name (2).ext) and originals are only removed on request.
