…to buildLogoutUrl When RP-Initiated Logout is enabled, Auth0 asks the user to confirm the logout unless the request carries a hint. buildLogoutUrl now accepts: - idTokenHint / logoutHint: sent as id_token_hint / logout_hint on the end_session_endpoint, so Auth0 can end the session without the prompt. - state: sent back to returnTo after logout. - strategy: 'auto' (default, end_session_endpoint when the tenant offers it, /v2/logout otherwise), 'oidc' (throws NotSupportedError with rp_initiated_logout_not_supported_error when the tenant has no end_session_endpoint) or 'v2'. Any other value is treated as 'auto'. /v2/logout takes none of the hints or state, so they are left out there. The logout guide covers when a hint is safe to send (sid claim, URL length, CSRF on POST and GET logout routes). Also fixes a missing await in the README logout example. | > With a hint, Auth0 ends its session without asking the user, so the page no longer protects the user from other sites that trigger a logout. Make sure only the user can trigger the route in your app that redirects to the logout URL. The safest way is a `POST` request with CSRF protection. If you keep a `GET` route, only add the hint when the `Sec-Fetch-Site` request header is `same-origin` or `none`. Build the URL without a hint for every other request, so that Auth0 keeps asking. That includes `same-site` requests, which can come from subdomains of your site that you don't fully trust, and requests from browsers that don't send the header. Users in these cases still see the confirmation page. A `POST` route with CSRF protection doesn't have this limit. |

Do not rely on the no-hint fallback to protect a GET logout route.
When auto selects /v2/logout, the OIDC confirmation prompt does not apply. An OIDC tenant can also disable that prompt. In either case, a cross-site GET request can proceed without the confirmation promised here. The fallback cannot protect an application session that the route clears before redirecting. Recommend a CSRF-protected logout action, and qualify the prompt guidance here and in the README. (support.auth0.com)

Description
buildLogoutUrl()only addspost_logout_redirect_uriandclient_idto the end session URL. When a logout request carries neither anid_token_hintnor alogout_hint, Auth0 can show a page that asks the user to confirm the logout. The OpenID Connect RP-Initiated Logout specification asks providers to do this, because a logout request without a valid hint cannot be tied to the user's own session. Today no SDK built on this package can avoid the page, because there is no way to pass a hint. If the user cancels the page, Auth0 keeps its session, even though the app has already cleared its own. This PR adds four optional options to
BuildLogoutUrlOptions:idTokenHint: sent asid_token_hint. Auth0 recommends this hint. The name matches the parameter it sends.logoutHint: sent aslogout_hint. This is thesidclaim of the ID token, the ID of the user's Auth0 session. It is for apps that prefer to keep the ID token, which carries the profile claims of the user, out of the URL.state: sent asstate. Auth0 returns it toreturnToafter logout. OnlyreturnTois checked against the Allowed Logout URLs.strategy:'auto'(default),'oidc'or'v2'.'auto'uses the end session endpoint when the tenant offers it, and/v2/logoutotherwise.'oidc'always uses the end session endpoint. It throws aNotSupportedErrorwith coderp_initiated_logout_not_supported_errorwhen the tenant does not offer it.'v2'always uses/v2/logout.Details:
stateare only sent to the end session endpoint. The/v2/logoutURL leaves them out.URLSearchParams, so they cannot add or change other parameters.sidclaim. Not every ID token has one, and thesidis what names the session the token belongs to.buildLogoutUrl.This package only builds the URL and has no session, so it cannot read the ID token itself. The follow-up PR for
auth0-server-js(linked below) passes the hint from the session. The two packages are in separate PRs so each can be released on its own.
