Node version upgrade

Goal

Upgrade the Node.js version used by this project.

Scope

• Update the Node version used in local dev and CI
• Update any version pins (e.g., toolchains, engines, CI setup)
• Ensure install/build/test workflows still pass

Acceptance criteria

• CI passes with the upgraded Node version
• Local npm install / build succeed
• Node version is documented/pinned consistently
