Eldritch is a community-driven dark theme inspired by Lovecraftian horror. With tones from the dark abyss and an emphasis on green and blue, it caters to those who appreciate the darker side of life.

Supported IDEs

Every IntelliJ-platform IDE, build 232 (2023.2) or newer: IntelliJ IDEA, PhpStorm, WebStorm, PyCharm, GoLand, RubyMine, CLion, Rider, RustRover, DataGrip, DataSpell, Aqua and Android Studio.

Installation

From the JetBrains Marketplace

  1. Open SettingsPlugins.
  2. Select the Marketplace tab and search for Eldritch Theme.
  3. Click Install, then restart the IDE if prompted.

From a release archive

  1. Download eldritch-intellij-<version>-signed.zip from the Releases page. Do not unpack it.
  2. Open SettingsPlugins.
  3. Open the ⚙ menu next to the tab bar and choose Install Plugin from Disk….
  4. Select the downloaded archive, then restart the IDE if prompted.

Usage

  1. Open SettingsAppearance & BehaviorAppearance.
  2. Set Theme to Eldritch, Eldritch Abyss or Eldritch Dusk.

The matching editor colour scheme is applied together with the theme. To pair an Eldritch editor scheme with a different UI theme, pick it separately under SettingsEditorColor Scheme.

Eldritch Abyss 🌀 Abyss (Darker) Deeper background, lower-contrast accents
Eldritch Dusk 🌅 Dusk (Light) Light background; pink/orange/purple take over the roles that would be illegible in green and yellow

Colour usage follows the upstream SPEC.

Contributing

Theme files under src/main/resources/themes/ are generated — edit tools/ instead and regenerate. See BUILD.md.
