Closes #842

What this was for

On 2026-10-28 a Sandbox purchase of solutions.pivi.dictus.pro.monthly failed with "Impossible de traiter la requête" while the yearly one went through 24 s later. The log said neither which product failed nor which StoreKit error it was, so a transient Sandbox failure could not be told apart from a product problem. A failed purchase now logs both.

Before / after

Before:

subscriptionError action=purchase error=<localizedDescription>

After (purchase only):

subscriptionError action=purchase product=solutions.pivi.dictus.pro.monthly error=<localizedDescription> domain=<NSError.domain> code=<NSError.code>

loadProducts and restore are unchanged, byte for byte.

Changes

  • LogEvent.subscriptionError gains product: String? = nil, domain: String? = nil, code: Int? = nil. Each one is printed only when it is set, so existing call sites compile and log as before.
  • SubscriptionManager.purchase(_:) passes product.id and the bridged NSError domain/code. purchaseState is untouched.
  • Only the product ID, error domain and code are logged. No user data.
  • Two tests sit next to the existing subscriptionError test in ProGatingTests: the new purchase format, and the two-field form staying unchanged.

Verification

  • cd DictusCore && swift test: Executed 3268 tests, with 3 tests skipped and 0 failures (0 unexpected)
    -[ProGatingTests testSubscriptionErrorEventMetadata] passed
    -[ProGatingTests testSubscriptionErrorPurchaseCarriesProductDomainAndCode] passed
    -[ProGatingTests testSubscriptionErrorWithoutOptionalFieldsIsUnchanged] passed

  • swiftlint lint --strict: Found 0 violations, 0 serious in 446 files. The LogEvent enum body is now at the 650-line type_body_length limit, so the next case added there will need a split or an inline disable.
  • xcodebuild build -scheme DictusApp -destination 'generic/platform=iOS Simulator' (same flags as CI): BUILD SUCCEEDED.
  • Not verified: a real log line from a failed purchase. The scheme's StoreKit configuration only applies when the Xcode GUI runs the app. simctl has no StoreKit control, and docs/agents/simulator.md records StoreKit as inert under simctl launch. The unit test checks the exact format instead.

To test by hand

  1. Install a build of this branch on a device signed into a Sandbox account (or run it from Xcode with StoreKitConfig.storekit and Editor ▸ Fail Transactions turned on).
  2. Open the paywall and start a purchase, then make it fail (Sandbox error, or the forced failure from step 1). Do not cancel it: a cancel takes the purchaseCancelled path.
  3. Export the debug log. Expected line: subscriptionError action=purchase product=solutions.pivi.dictus.pro.<plan> error=… domain=… code=….
  4. Tap Restore purchases with no network. Expected line, with no new fields: subscriptionError action=restore error=….

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Failed purchase logs now include the product identifier and additional error details, making it easier to identify which product was involved and understand the reported error.
    • The existing failed-purchase state and localized error message remain unchanged.
  • Tests
    • Added coverage for logs with and without the additional purchase and error details.

…#842)

The purchase catch block only logged the localized description, which
several StoreKit errors share and which does not name the product.
`subscriptionError` gains optional `product`, `domain` and `code` fields
that add nothing to the message when nil, so the loadProducts and
restore lines stay byte-identical. Logging only: purchaseState is
unchanged.

Walkthrough

Failed purchase logs now include the product ID and NSError domain and code. The subscription error event adds these fields only when provided. Tests cover both the detailed purchase message and the existing restore message.

Changes: Purchase failure logging

Layer / File(s) Summary
Extend subscription error event
DictusCore/Sources/DictusCore/LogEvent.swift
The event accepts optional product, domain, and code fields. The message formatter appends each field when present.
Add purchase context and verify messages
DictusApp/Subscription/SubscriptionManager.swift, DictusCore/Tests/DictusCoreTests/ProGatingTests.swift
Failed purchase logging supplies the product ID and NSError domain and code. Tests verify the detailed purchase message and confirm that a restore message without optional fields retains its prior format.

The logging change is mergeable with a bounded testing follow-up: failed purchases include the requested diagnostic fields, but their presence at the purchase call site is not protected by a regression test.

Explanation

Issue #842 requires purchase failures to log the product ID, bridged NSError domain, and code; preserve loadProducts and restore output; add a DictusCore format test; and keep the build, SwiftLint, and tests green. SubscriptionManager.purchase(_:) logs product.id, nsError.domain, and nsError.code. The restore and loadProducts call sites still pass only action and error. ProGatingTests covers the new format and the unchanged two-field format. The supplied verification reports 3,268 tests with 0 failures, 0 SwiftLint violations, and a successful iOS Simulator build. purchaseState remains on the existing failure path.

Full details: Out of Scope Changes check

Explanation

The reviewed changes are limited to subscriptionError optional metadata, the purchase failure call site, and focused DictusCore tests. The changes do not alter purchaseState, paywall behavior, loadProducts behavior, or restore logging. The logged values are limited to the product ID and NSError domain/code required by issue #842.

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 100.00% which is sufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 1 functions across 3 files.

Add a test that exercises the failed-purchase log call.

The new product, domain, and code arguments in the purchase(_:) catch path have no test. The subscriptionError tests in ProGatingTests.swift build the event directly. Removing these arguments from the call in SubscriptionManager.swift would still pass the suite.
