60 files in a root created with createRoot(1) segfaults the emulator: the records need 2 sectors and serializeDirectory writes the second one past the end of its buffer. computeLayout now checks each directory against computeDirExtentSize, which had no caller, and throws with the sector count it needed. isoBuilderClose returns the exception text, so builder:close() raises that message; before, Lua only saw "C++ exception".

Tests: the 1-sector root must error, and the same 60 files under createRoot(2) must all list back.

computeLayout now checks each directory against computeDirExtentSize,
which existed but had no caller, and throws instead of letting
serializeDirectory write past the end of its buffer. isoBuilderClose
returns the exception text so Lua's close() raises it as a message
rather than a bare "C++ exception".

📝 Walkthrough

The ISO builder excludes skipped children from directory size calculations and checks that directory entries fit allocated sectors. The close wrapper returns caught errors to Lua, where close() raises them. Tests cover undersized and adequately sized root directories.

Changes: ISO directory capacity handling

Layer / File(s) Summary
Directory sizing and capacity validation
src/supportpsx/iso9660-builder.cc, src/supportpsx/iso9660-builder.h
Directory size calculations exclude skipped children. Layout throws an error when directory entries require more sectors than allocated.
Lua close error propagation
src/core/luaiso.cc, src/core/isoffi.lua, tests/lua/isobuilder.lua
The C wrapper returns caught exception messages, and Lua close() raises an error when it receives one. Tests verify that a one-sector root fails with 60 files and that a two-sector root closes and lists all 60 files.

Full details: Title check

Explanation

The title names the main change: the ISO9660 builder now refuses a directory extent that is too small for its entries. The raw summary confirms the new checkDirExtentFits check and the error thrown from computeLayout, so the title matches the changeset.

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description explains the crash (60 files under createRoot(1) overrun a buffer), the new check in computeLayout using computeDirExtentSize, the isoBuilderClose change that surfaces the exception text, and the two tests. These match the changed files in the raw summary.

Assert both sector counts in the close error.

The one-sector fixture reaches builder:close(), but the current assertion checks only directory. A regression could remove or change either sector count while this test still passes. Assert the specific needs 2 sectors for its entries but was created with 1 text.

Suggested fix
- lu.assertStrContains(tostring(err), 'directory')
+ lu.assertStrContains(tostring(err), 'needs 2 sectors for its entries but was created with 1')

Update the error assertion in TestIsoBuilder:test_directoryTooSmallIsAnError to
check for the specific text “needs 2 sectors for its entries but was created
with 1” instead of the generic “directory” substring.

Taken in a71488c: the test now asserts the full needs 2 sectors for its entries but was created with 1 text.
