Update numeric literals throughout the codebase and test suite to use the 'U' suffix for unsigned constants, ensuring consistent type safety and adherence to strict coding standards. Signed-off-by: Bertrand Lebonnois <5901952+hellobertrand@users.noreply.github.com>
Configure clang-format to enforce the use of 'U' suffixes for unsigned integer literals to improve code consistency. Additionally, include the conformance directory in the automated formatting targets. Signed-off-by: Bertrand Lebonnois <5901952+hellobertrand@users.noreply.github.com>
Add a linting step to the CI pipeline and Makefile to detect and prevent the use of 'UL', 'LU', and 'LLU' integer suffixes. These are restricted because 'UL'/'LU' suffixes can cause issues on Windows where unsigned long is 32 bits, ensuring more consistent type safety across platforms. Verification ran but could not confirm this finding. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.Include untracked source files in the suffix check.
Line 103 uses
git grep, which searches tracked files only. If a new, untracked.c,.cc, or.hfile contains1UL,make lintskips it and reports success. Use a file list that also includes untracked files, while preserving the vendor exclusion.

The `.clang-format` configuration now utilizes `NumericLiteralCase`, which was introduced in clang-format 22. This change updates the build system to verify the installed version and prevents the use of incompatible older versions during formatting tasks. Documentation has been updated to reflect this requirement. Signed-off-by: Bertrand Lebonnois <5901952+hellobertrand@users.noreply.github.com>
Remove the hard dependency on clang-format 22 to simplify the build environment. Additionally, improve the robustness of the integer suffix linting in the Makefile and CI by updating the detection regex to better account for printf conversion specifiers. Adopting uppercase
Ufor unsigned integer suffixes enhances code readability and promotes consistency withULLforunsigned long longliterals. This change also helps to align with broader C/C++ style guidelines and avoids potential ambiguities or compiler-specific interpretations, such asULbeing 32-bit on Windows platforms, as highlighted in the CI checks.Summary by CodeRabbit
