Follow-up from #296
Currently, the shader builder generates "scalar functions" which simply return a scalar value - these incur a function call which is unnecessary, and in many cases is executed for every rendered instance. Can we optimize by inlining the scalar values at the call sites? Or just define a constant and then use the constant at the call site (i.e., drop the function-call parentheses)?
