Fixes #1025

Summary of Changes

When checking for mismatched certificates with -mm, target IP addresses were previously reported as mismatched because IsMisMatchedCert compared only against Subject.CommonName and DNSNames, omitting cert.IPAddresses.

This PR addresses the issue across ctls, ztls, and openssl modes:

  1. IP SAN Inclusion:
    • Convertx509toResponse and ztls.ConvertCertificateToResponse now include cert.IPAddresses in the alternative names list passed to IsMisMatchedCert.
  2. Semantic IP Comparison:
    • IsMisMatchedCert checks whether the target host is an IP address via net.ParseIP.
    • When matching against IP alternative names, it compares hostIP.Equal(altIP) ensuring correct matching across both IPv4 and different IPv6 notations (e.g., 2606:4700:4700:0:0:0:0:1111 and 2606:4700:4700::1111).
  3. Tests:
    • Added unit test cases to TestIsMisMatchedCert covering IPv4 and IPv6 IP SAN scenarios.
    • Added TestConvertx509toResponse_IPSans verifying end-to-end response handling.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Certificate hostname checks now account for IP addresses listed in certificate alternative names, including equivalent IPv6 representations.
    • Certificates with matching IP addresses are no longer incorrectly reported as hostname mismatches.
    • IPv4 and IPv6 addresses are checked consistently, including bracketed or zone-scoped IPv6 hosts. Certificates with unrelated IP addresses or DNS names continue to be reported as mismatches when appropriate.

…jectdiscovery#1025)

- Parse IP address in IsMisMatchedCert and compare IP equality against alternative names
- Include cert.IPAddresses in domain names when converting x509 responses in clients and ztls
- Handle IPv6 notation normalization seamlessly
- Add unit test coverage for IPv4 and IPv6 IP SAN matching

Walkthrough

Certificate conversion now includes IP SANs in mismatch checks. The client check compares IP addresses semantically, including equivalent IPv6 representations. Tests cover matching and mismatching IP targets.

Explanation

Issue [#1025] requires IP SAN matching for -mm in ctls, ztls, and openssl modes, including equivalent IPv6 notation. Convertx509toResponse and ztls.ConvertCertificateToResponse now add certificate IP addresses to the checked names. IsMisMatchedCert parses IP hosts and compares IP values with net.IP.Equal. The added tests cover IPv4, IPv6, equivalent IPv6 spellings, and end-to-end response handling.

Full details: Out of Scope Changes check

Explanation

The production changes only extend certificate mismatch checks with IP SAN collection and semantic IP comparison. The tests verify these changes, including bracketed and zone-scoped IPv6 input. No unrelated functional change is shown.

Restrict semantic IP comparison to IP SANs.

alternativeNames combines the CN, DNS SANs, and IP SANs. If the host is 2001:db8::1 and the certificate has only the CN 2001:0db8::1, hostAsIP parses both values and net.IP.Equal reports a match. This suppresses the mismatch even though the certificate has no IP SAN.

Track IP SANs separately and apply semantic IP comparison only to those values. Preserve the existing exact-name behavior for CN and DNS names.
