There was no pytest configuration here. Besides being a good idea (see https://learn.scientific-python.org/development/guides/pytest, where I also got this configuration from), it actually breaks a user if you have configutation above this repo, since pytest hunts until it can find a configuration, such as in pypa/packaging#1390, where you can see pytest is going up directory by directory until it finds packaging's configuration.
